During prophase7/3/2023 duplicates of one another formed by replication during the previous S phase. At the end of anaphase, each pole contains a complete compilation of chromosomes. Prophase is characterized by the preparation of chromosomes for segregation. During prophase and metaphase of mitosis, each chromosome exists in the above state. In preparation for telophase, the two cell poles also move further apart during the course of anaphase.Microtubules grow from centrosomes placed at opposite poles of the cell. Kinetochore proteins are multiprotein complexes that bind the centromeres of a chromosome to the microtubules of the mitotic spindle. The daughter chromosomes migrate centromere first and the kinetochore fibers become shorter as the chromosomes near a pole. The key event in prometaphase I is the attachment of the spindle fiber microtubules to the kinetochore proteins at the centromeres.Through the spindle apparatus, the daughter chromosomes move to the poles at opposite ends of the cell..They are referred to as daughter chromosomes.
